A Balkan - Anatolian species. The northern limit of the range is in the Romanian Plain (3-4 scattered locations in forests from the fores-steppe area) , Dobrudja (quite frequent in the forest-steppe) and the forest-steppe of Moldavia.

perennial, H-G, 2n=10, 20 (diploid, tetraploid)

Quercetalia pubescentis

R4162 habitat but occasionally also in R3128, R3129, R3132 and even R3409, R3416, R3418, R3419 habitats
